Do HEPA Filters Remove Viruses?

How Does HEPA Work?
“HEPA” stands for “high-efficiency particulate air” filter, and while the name may sound fancy, these filters are not new. In fact, HEPA filters were invented right alongside the atomic bomb back in the 1940s. These filters are mesh screens of randomly placed fabrics made from either cloth or synthetic materials. The filter works by pushing air through the membrane, either by suction or through a fan. While forcing the air in your home or office through this tight-knit mesh requires a great deal of energy and force, it results in trapping odors and air particles like pollen, dust, pet dander, bacteria, and viruses.
Still, not all air filters can be labeled as HEPA filters. In fact, there are some strict requirements that these filters must meet to claim they’re HEPA filters. In the United States, these filters must remove more than 99.97% of particles in the air, while in the UK, only 99.95% of particles must be removed.
Can I Use an Air Purifier and Humidifier Together?
